Price list distribution has challenges that we are solving with ProductEngine. The sharing of a price list document (PDF or a Spreadsheet) needs improvement. Static documents go out of date and can be on-shared with your competitors. In the ProductEngine model you share a link to an authenticated user who always sees the correct version. Why are price lists shared?
Sharing price lists is usually done to staff, customers and systems (including customer systems). This ensures they know what you offer and at what price. You may have one large price list or many variations for all your sales channels.
Price list management
Start by loading your pricing and product data into our online application. This gives you one place to go for everyone that collaborates on pricing or product data. ProductEngine has spreadsheet comparable functionality for managing your pricing. It's super easy to calculate sell prices, margins and currency conversions. Built in approval workflows with reporting and analysis will follow soon after beta.
Price list distribution - People
Once you have created your sell pricing you need to distribute it. In the ProductEngine world this is very easy. Select the data you wish to share, create a price list, then share it with anyone that needs access. Of course you would filter out anything sensitive such as your costs or any internal data. To invite a viewer enter their email address, press share and they can now log into ProductEngine. It's as easy as Slack - click on a magic link in email and view the pricing. They can create sub views for their own use but they can’t on-share or download your pricing (unless you let them). And because all viewers need authentication you always know who is accessing which price list.
Price list distribution - Systems
If you need to share with a system an API is available. Post Beta it will be even easier as connectors will be available for popular CRM, ERP, e-commerce and billing systems. This will deliver one click sync and update allowing very fast publishing of pricing and product data changes. For those of you importing CSV files into one or more systems this will save you time and increase accuracy.
